This my favorite band in all Japan because of their great shows and musicality - especially jazz. Marching in parades is not their forte and they do not pretend that it is. They do a credible job of playing, smiling and waving. Precision marching is not their thing and it need not be. Wonderful moments: At around 13:30 the poor wondering clarinet player who seems to want to get in the parade but can't find a place to join. At .24, the drum major does a little "Miss Priss" routine. The seemingly endless wait to start a parade - especially when it is cold outside.. One question if someone can answer. The drum major here and the saxophonist diagonally behind her both have the same hair style, both played sax and look like they could be sisters. Are they? The sax player in this parade became the group's announcer in the next year and besides playing a great sax, has a voice that cuts right through everything - - and that's good. Again, my favorite band - - don't change a thing!
I kept thinking join the Tubas, or get beside the cymbals. I hope that the Wandering Clarinetist was able to rejoin the Band at the sidewalk at the end. There was an encounter with the Boy Scout Troop after the Parade. The Band Members all looked refreshed and happy. I enjoyed the variations of the music that was played.
I see what you mean, the lads bearing the banner, at least the nearside lad set off with completely the wrong pace altogether; and the tall lass with the silver Tuba was having difficulty keeping her steps short enough to match everyone else's. ~Reminded me of a bloke in the same Territorial Army intake as me, he was sooo tall and his legs were sooo long that when we learned marching initially he was having to correct for a misstep every four to five strides-poor lad.~ The little lass in the school uniform with the clarinet was ahead of the camera operator when he went up the steps of the pedestrian bridge, but I didn't notice her after that. Hopefully this wasn't their only performance that day and she got to play with the band. In the British Army the endless wait for something to begin almost always follows the urgent arrival at the location, so as not to be late, and it is called the 'hurry up and wait' syndrome, an important part of army life.
usual excellent performance from this charming and friendly band.good close-ups give an intimate perspective not usually seen.i always avidly watch any videos of this school and my favourite other four: mito girls,kt,izumo business & waseda setsuryo
